Health & Safety Advisor (OHS)
Help shape a safer workplace across our cold storage warehouse operations by coaching teams, reducing risk, and driving practical improvements across multiple sites.
Position Purpose
To promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment by partnering with employees and leaders to reduce risk, reinforce safe work practices, and foster a strong safety culture across warehouse and cold storage operations.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Identify hazards and develop practical corrective and preventative measures to reduce workplace risk.
Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and safety concerns, and recommend sustainable solutions.
Support compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, policies, procedures, and company standards.
Facilitate safety training, onboarding, toolbox talks, and employee awareness initiatives.
Partner with operational leaders to integrate safety into daily decision-making and operational activities.
Conduct Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities, workplace inspections, and action item follow-up.
Monitor safety performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Deliver employee training and facilitating safety meetings.
Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, and policies.
Promote employee engagement and accountability by fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
Participate in claim management, return-to-work programs, and incident reporting processes as required.
Travel between facilities to provide consistent health and safety support across multiple locations (Mississauga and Etobicoke).
Perform other related duties.

Professional Skills Required for the Position
Degree, diploma, or certification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), Human Resources, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within warehousing, logistics, distribution, food production, manufacturing, or cold storage environments.
Knowledge of applicable Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, and hazard assessments.
Strong understanding of safety management systems, risk management principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience supporting claims management and return-to-work programs is considered an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting systems.
CRSP, CHSC, or working toward a professional Health & Safety designation is considered an asset.
Special Conditions of the Position
Regular travel between cold storage warehouse facilities may be required.
Frequent presence in refrigerated and freezer environments, including exposure to temperatures as low as -30°C.
Ability to work flexible hours as required to support multiple shifts, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, and entering active warehouse environments.
Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in operational areas.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
